// Instead of a group of headers on the screen, the normal volume was simply replaced with an excerpt of Mael Radec's speech before he was assassinated. //

Good evening, people of the Federation of Haven. By forfeiting your time, you have dedicated yourself to coming here and hearing the words that shall impress greatness upon this city. Upon our city. Upon our hope. Upon our haven.
Roughly thirty years ago, a group of Galactic War refugees, veterans, and ordinary people like us banded together under the leadership of a person with dreams. Leda Portia began the federation as the Fringe Protectorate fell to dust, our home ravaged with little remaining. But it is said that sapient lifeforms are natural dreamers. We dream for good. We dream for hope. We dream for a new beginning, from our forefathers to our children. And it is those dreams that created Haven City from the ashes of war. We look out to Haven’s rising suns blooming on the clean cityscape and we recognize the beauty those dreams instilled in it. The hard work that rose it from the ground. The sweat and tears that forged its timeline and upkept the flame of prosperity for decades.
By forfeiting your time, you involve yourself in a new deal for Haven. In this age of rising worries, our stories intertwine in the never-ending book of fate. We turn the pages ahead in hope for a good future, and read back to reflect on our past before moving back to our own present page. We are all connected in this Haven that we chose as home. Our home. Our Haven. As we do our own friends, we must respect each other, love each other, protect each other - we as sapient lifeforms are gifted with empathy and emotion, and it is that which is the dream that created Haven and forfeited your time to hear my words. The words that ring through the stars, the words of our Haven.
We are all heroes in our own right - we all take up the arms of justice, of knowledge, of wisdom, or more in our own righteous battles. Each lifeform to his own, each lifeform to impress his good unto the world. Each man can kill or save another, and it is our own justice to save all with not a sword, but with a flower. Not a gravestone, but an olive branch. Not my Haven, but your Haven, our Haven. And so, to not only the strong people of Haven, who have endured the impossible, to not only the brave leaders or the strong warriors, but to every lifeform this blessing of a galaxy has to offer, I charge you with the dream of Haven:

Make your mark. Protect our Haven.

-

In memory of Mael Radec, died 8:15 PM April 1st 3284. A day that will live forever in grief. May we all protect our Haven.

[[ For the record: Assume April Fools' Day is not a thing Humans celebrate - except those who are really into ancient obscure holidays. Even then, remember the Fringe isn't populated by just Humans and other species can still be largely ignorant of each others' history beyond the past couple centuries. Because of this, it's safer to assume there isn't a holiday tied to April 1st in the canon that is known by those living in the GC universe. ]]
